ON THE BIG ISLAND
Hawaii is a group of islands located in the m middle of the Pacific Ocean, literally. It is about a 5 hour flight to the continental Unites States and 8 hours to Tokyo, Japan. The Big Island (officially named Hawaii) is the largest island in the United States’ Hawaiian archipelago in the Central Pacific. The Big Island is very diverse with 13 climates, green and black sand beaches, rain forests and botanical gardens. Within Volcanoes National Park, there are 2 active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa. There is an abundance of great snorkeling and diving, hiking and exploration opportunities.
Kailua-Kona / Kailua Village is located on the leeward side of Hawaii island – The Big Island. There is much history here. Hulihee Palace is a former royal vacation home dating from 1838. Mokuaikaua Church, from the 1800s, is Hawaii’s oldest Christian church. On Kailua Bay, reconstructed thatched houses at Kamakahonu National Historic Landmark mark King Kamehameha I’s residence. Colorful coral lies off Kamakahonu Beach. Kailua Pier has boat moorings. Honokohou Harbor is about halfway between the airport and town, where you can fish just offshore for world record pelagic fish or just something to eat.
Our vacation rentals are located right in Kailua Kona, where you can explore history, go shopping, enjoy the local entertainment, surf, swim. There is an abundance of great restaurants. All of our rentals are within 10 miles of the airport, great golf courses, etc.
